In Assam, the flood situation remains critical with the official death toll rising and over 3 lakh residents affected across submerged villages, forcing thousands to seek shelter in state-run relief centers. Vast stretches of standing agricultural crops have suffered severe structural damage, while in northern mountainous districts such as Kishtwar and Doda, educational institutions were temporarily closed due to bad weather. Landslides triggered by incessant rains caused major blockages along critical national highway corridors, stalling heavy traffic while municipal corporations deployed emergency pumps to clear submerged low-lying residential sectors.
