“EU-Saudi Roundtable Strengthens Sustainable Business Collaboration and Green Investment Opportunities”

Dec 10, 2025

A high-level roundtable on sustainable business cooperation was held in Riyadh, bringing together leading companies from the European Union (EU) and Saudi Arabia to explore joint initiatives and investment opportunities.

The event, organized under the EU–GCC Cooperation on Green Transition Project in collaboration with the European Chamber of Commerce in Saudi Arabia, aimed to foster collaboration in sectors such as clean energy, circular economy, water technologies, sustainable manufacturing, and environmental innovation.

EU Leaders Emphasize Green Transition and Investment Opportunities

European Commissioner Dubravka Suica, responsible for EU-Mediterranean and Gulf relations, highlighted Europe’s readiness to engage in sustainable projects.

“All our pipelines are hydrogen-ready, enabling the future supply of hydrogen. Europe’s expertise in green development can create valuable opportunities for collaboration,” she said.

Suica added that simplifying regulatory processes for businesses seeking sustainability projects in Europe would benefit both EU and Saudi companies, while the EU Green Deal targets a CO2-neutral continent by 2050.

Private Sector Participation and Strategic Partnerships

The roundtable included senior representatives from companies such as Danfoss and ACWA Power, discussing technology deployment, joint investment opportunities, and long-term sustainable growth.

Suica also emphasized the Pact for the Mediterranean, launched last month in Barcelona, as a key framework for expanding business opportunities across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

“This consultation reaffirms our commitment to accelerating the green transition through partnerships between EU and Saudi companies, connecting our regions and people,” said Suica.

EU-Saudi Commitment to Sustainable Development

EU Ambassador Christophe Farnaud noted:

“Saudi Arabia and Europe are charting a new path for sustainable development. By uniting leading companies from both regions, we aim to convert dialogue into tangible opportunities for innovation, diversification, and growth.”

The discussion underscored strong engagement from both sides, with intentions to expand collaboration across multiple sectors, ensuring mutual benefits, innovation, and sustainable economic growth.
