Hajj 2025: Banks to Stay Open on Weekends for Pilgrim Applications and Payments

To assist citizens planning for Hajj 2025, designated banks across Pakistan will remain open on Saturday, November 30, and Sunday, December 1, 2024, to process Hajj applications and payments. These branches will operate from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM on both days, as announced by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in a circular issued recently.

Hajj 2025: Application and Payment Details

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has appointed 15 banks across the country to collect Hajj applications and dues from intending pilgrims. The application window is open from November 18, 2024, to December 3, 2024.

Around 179,210 Pakistanis are expected to perform Hajj under the government scheme in 2025. The total cost for each pilgrim will range between Rs 1,075,000 and Rs 1,175,000.

  • Initial Payment: Pilgrims must submit Rs 200,000 with their application.
  • Balloting Payment: After selection, Rs 400,000 is due.
  • Final Payment: The remaining balance is to be paid by February 10, 2025.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

If pilgrims wish to cancel their application:

  • Rs 50,000 will be deducted from the first installment.
  • Rs 200,000 will be deducted if the third installment is not paid by February 10, 2025.
  • No refunds will be available after February 10, 2025.

Compensation for Deceased Pilgrims’ Heirs

In a significant update, the compensation for the heirs of deceased pilgrims has been increased from Rs 1 million to Rs 2 million.

Special Provisions for Low-Income Groups

As part of the Hajj policy for 2025:

  • 1,000 seats will be allocated to hardship cases.
  • 300 seats will be reserved for labourers and low-income employees registered under the Employees Old-Age Benefit Institution (EOBI) or Workers Welfare Fund.

Road to Makkah Facility and Support Systems

The Road to Makkah facility will be available at Islamabad and Karachi airports, streamlining the travel process for Pakistani pilgrims.

Hajj Group Organizers and Administrative Support

The Hajj group organizers will sign an agreement with the Ministry of Religious Affairs to ensure quality services for pilgrims. Additionally, a new Nazim (administrator) role has been introduced. Each group of 100 pilgrims will be assigned a Nazim to manage their needs.

A special Hajj Management App has also been developed, with arrangements for pilgrims’ training and support during their journey.
